In October of 2018, my documentary photography class at SUNY New Paltz was assigned a community project to do over a three day break from school. I was asked to go to Amagansett in the Hamptons by the girl I had just started seeing at the time. Split between staying in New Paltz, working or going to the Hamptons for the first time, I chose to go and document the group of Bard College students I'd be staying with.
I had never seen lives and houses like this before, let alone participate in them. The project was to be continued throughout the semester, but I grew uncomfortable once I understood why I was photographing, apprehensive to have my camera out, and nervous of the project complicating my new relationship. I told my professor I had lost my negatives when the final was due and was given a C.
